Day Trip

Farm Hop Westham Island

Across the Fraser, it's off to Westham Island.
Once you cross the single land 100-year-old truss bridge to Westham Island, you're on farm time. Home to farm stands from our top organic producers, it's a summer hot spot for berry pickers and ice cream enthusiasts. This itinerary takes you on an island tour, but keep in mind, summer weekends can be busy!

1. Westham Island Herb Farm

📍4690 Kirkland Rd, Delta

Once on the island, down the first country lane to the right is Westham Island Herb Farm. Shop for all your fresh vegetables, berries, fresh-cut flowers, herbs, and freshly baked goods at their loaded farm stand. Take the opportunity to roam this family farm, introducing yourself to resident cows, donkeys, and chickens.

2. Emma Lea Farms

📍 2727 Westham Island Rd, Delta

Heading north down the main drive on Westham Island, you’ll find Emma Lea Farms. With u-picking opportunities for berries in the summer and sunflowers in late August/early September, Emma Lea allows you to enjoy the fresh air, get a little exercise, and feel like you’re doing some work for your bounty.  Remember to pack your reusable grocery bag, as their farm stand offers bulk fruit, as well as local fresh jams, honey, baked goods, and pickled veggies.

The Emma Lea Ice Cream Shoppe is a dream for twist cones, smoothies, and milkshakes created with freshly picked berries grown on-site. Check in with their social media sites for news on food trucks like @breadandcheese and @skythai, which often park farm side for hungry pickers to indulge.

3. Cropthorne Farm

📍4362 Tamboline Rd, Delta, BC

Westham Island farms are a beautiful sight. With their prairie-esk landscape offering fertile soil full of lush crops, ocean breezes, and distant mountain views, they remind us of the origin of our food and what sustains us. Cropthorne Farm is a family-run business on Westham Island producing a myriad of organic vegetables – too many to list, but we’ll start with potatoes, zucchini, onions, peppers, lettuces, and arugula. While on Westham Isle, the third stop on our farm hop itinerary takes you to their Farm Stand for fresh cut flowers, organic vegetables, and of course, a sense of the life and community that’s ever present in Delta farmlands.
